Crusty Artisan Bread

Love the smell of freshly baked bread? Make your own bakery-style crusty homemade Artisan Bread with this super easy recipe! All you need is 4 basic ingredients and a Dutch Oven! Even though I use a mixer, this is a NO-Knead Recipe.

Equipment

  • Dutch Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Stand Mixer (if available)

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups hot water not boiling

Instructions
 

  • add the flour into a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the yeast. Use a little bit of the water and make a paste.
  • after a couple of minutes the yeast should have formed bubbles. Now add the salt and most of the water. Leave some water in the messuring cup in case dough is to dry.
  • Use stand mixer (such as a KitchenAid) and mix all ingredients for 5 minutes
  • After 5 minutes dough should be nice and smooth. Form it into a ball and let it sit in a bowl for about 45 min or until dough has doubled. Cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it stand in a warm place.
  • after 45 min take dough out of bowl and knead it for about 15 seconds. Form another ball and lay it into a parchment layered bowl. Cover with towel again and let it raise for 30 min.
  • in the meantime pre-heat oven to 425°F. Put Dutch Oven inside to get hot as well.
  • When temperature is reached, take Dutch Oven out with some Pot Holders. Gently take parchment paper with dough on all 4 corners and slowly put it into hot Dutch Oven. Make sure it does not deflate. Put lid on and bake for 30 min
  • after 30 min, take lid off and bake for another 10 – 15min to get a brown crust on top
  • take bread out and let cool down on a rack
  • Enjoy warm bread with some butter!
