Hi, I’m Debbie,
Welcome to Debbie’s Kitchen Corner! I’m a German-trained baker who believes good food doesn’t have to be complicated. Here you’ll find authentic German favorites, plenty of baking, and approachable recipes made for real life.
My love of baking started long before Debbie’s Kitchen Corner existed.
I grew up in Stuttgart, Germany, learning in the kitchen alongside my mom and grandma — and even spent my school breaks working in a local bakery. Those early mornings surrounded by fresh bread and pastries helped shape the baker I am today.

From Stuttgart to My Own Kitchen
Some of my favorite childhood memories were made in the kitchen, learning, laughing, and cooking alongside my mom. By the time I was 12, I was spending my summer and winter breaks working at a local bakery—sometimes starting at 4 a.m. to knead dough and fill the shelves with fresh bread and pastries. I was never much of an early riser, but the smell of freshly baked bread made those mornings a whole lot easier.

Fast forward to 1996, when my husband, Manny, and I packed up our lives in Germany with our two kids and moved to Florida. I spent six wonderful years working at a bakery on the beach, where I continued learning and perfecting my craft. Those years strengthened my love of baking and became an important part of the journey that eventually led to Debbie’s Kitchen Corner.
Years later, that love of baking followed me into my own kitchen and eventually online. What started as a way to share the food I loved making has grown into Debbie’s Kitchen Corner — a place where I can pass along the recipes, techniques, and traditions I’ve gathered from Germany to America and everywhere in between.
Life Beyond the Kitchen
My family has always been at the heart of my cooking and baking. My two kids are grown now, but they still come home with favorite dishes and special requests. There’s something pretty wonderful about knowing that the recipes you made for your family years ago are still the ones they ask for today.
Today, Manny and I live just outside Portland, Oregon, with our two dogs, Milo and Pepper. Oregon’s rainy days give me the perfect excuse to turn on the oven and bake something cozy. The first recipe I ever shared was a tiramisu cake I made for my daughter’s bridal shower—and I haven’t stopped sharing since. Debbie’s Kitchen Corner is where I get to share my tried-and-true recipes with you, along with the stories, mistakes, and laughs that happen along the way.
